「この時期」「今の時期」って英語で何て言う？

「この時期にしては暖かい」「毎年この時期はよく雨が降る」「1年のうちで今の時期が好きです」。

こんなふうに「この時期」や「今の時期」という表現って、よく使いませんか？では、これって英語でどう言うのでしょうか？

実は、とってもよく使われるフレーズがあるんです！

「この時期、今の時期」は英語で何て言う？

1年のうちの特定の時を指して言う「この時期」や「今の時期」を表すときによく使われるフレーズとは、

this time of year

です。そのままと言えばそのままですね（笑）

• My allergies are starting up. I hate this time of year.
  アレルギーが出始めてる。この時期本当にキライ
• This time of year is called “flu season.”
  今の時期は「インフルエンザのシーズン」と呼ばれています
• I love this time of year. Christmas decorations are so beautiful!
  この時期がすごく好き。クリスマスの飾りがとってもキレイ！

“this time of year” の使い方

“this time of year” は、その前に “at/around/for/during” のような前置詞がくっついて、

at this time of year
around this time of year
for this time of year
during this time of year

という形で使われることがとても多いです。「この時期は」「今の時期は」「今の時期にしては」というニュアンスですね。

少し例を挙げてみると、

  ロンドンの今の時期の天気はどんな感じですか？
• We usually get a lot of rain at this time of year.
  この時期は雨がよく降ります

「去年の今ごろ」「明日の今ごろ」も覚えておこう

“this time of year” は、”year” の部分を “day” に変えて、

this time of day

とすると「1日のうちのこの頃」を表すこともできます。

• I always get hungry (around) this time of day.
  いつも（だいたい）この時間にお腹が空く

さらに「去年の今ごろ」や「明日の今ごろ」も、”this time 〜” を使ってこんなふうに表せるんです↓

(around) this time last year
(around) this time tomorrow

• Around this time last year I was in Paris.
  去年の今頃はパリにいました
• I’ll be on the plane this time tomorrow.
  明日の今頃は飛行機の中です
